Arizona Government

arizona government

This compilation of Arizona government contacts and resources is provided for your convenience. This page covers state and county offices.

If you are looking for Arizona's national representatives... go to Arizona Representatives Page (Washington D.C.)

Arizona government officers and your legislative representatives want to know your opinion on local and state issues.

And even more importantly... they need to know that you're actively watching their performance.

Most government websites now provide a response form for your use in sending e-mail. By using a response form they can hide their e-mail address from spammers.

The high volume of junk e-mail advertising (spam) now coming through e-mail has forced them to take this route. Please don't be intimidated by the form, it's quick and painless.

But first...

I receive many enquiries regarding upcoming tea party movement events and progressive events. Because these events are usually put on by self appointed volunteers - and not an organization - this information is apparently hard to find. In the box below I provide links to both conservative and progressive resources. These links were provided by Flagstaff area residents at my request.

The Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission 2010

The IRC website is http://www.azredistricting.org/default.asp

Mission: The Independent Redistricting Commission's mission is to redraw Arizona’s congressional and legislative districts to reflect the results of the most recent census. The concept of one-person, one-vote dictates that districts should be roughly equal in population. Other factors to be considered are the federal Voting Rights Act, district shape, geographical features, respect for communities of interest and potential competitiveness. The state Constitution requires the commissioners – two Republicans, two Democrats and an independent chairwoman – to start from scratch rather than redraw existing districts.

The Independent Redistricting Commission members are appointed (not elected).

Arizona government elected officials with significant authority over state spending and taxes include your state legislators and the governor.

The Arizona Legislature's website is at http://www.azleg.state.az.us/.

The Independent Redistricting Commission adopted the "final tentative" legislative district map (below) on December 20, 2011.
